Purgy Speaks?!

Posted by Back-From-Purgatory - August 21st, 2013

Ok, so, Purgy is mysterious and yadda yadda, and everyone is always asking me questions and making assumptions.

Well, now you have one less thing to wonder about. I just did a voice interview with RealFaction, and it just went live over on youtube. So... hear me say things and talk about stuff.

... And cringe at the awful quality because I don't ever really speak on mic, so I didn't really have it set up properly, leaving myself muffled and junk. But yeah... go check it out and shit.

I remember when you popped by the art forum, you were pretty cool.
But that interview, lol, you sound half asleep.

I'm not really a big talker... I'm kinda mute most of the time.

Loved it purgy <3

Well, glad you could enjoy it despite my terrible audio quality... Apparently I was trying too hard, cause people tell me I sound much better in casual conversation.

Loved the interview. I also love your dark humor. Well, time to go buy your album before you find me and kill me!

<3 <3

that music rocks! what hardware do you use to record?

Thanks. I record guitars/live instruments with Reaper, and I do pretty much everything else in FL Studio.

This was an interesting interview, Purgy!

Glad you think so.

hehe, i read that on the audio submission page. I meant like what gear do use, such as what brand guitar, effect pedals (if any), recording intefaces, etc.

Oh, well, most of my songs with guitar are using my Peavy Raptor 6 string (The hand-me-down I mention in the interview), I also have an Ibanez RG1527 prestige (7 String), a Fender Precision bass, an Ovation electric acoustic. All of those generally go through my Line 6 POD X3 Live, then into my PC via USB. I also have a Digitech JamMan looper, but I don't really use that at all while recording, it's mostly for improvising new songs without going through the trouble of actual recording.

I also have an M-Audio Keystation 88es for playing piano/synth/general Midi input.

I actually have a newspost up from like a year or two back where I have a picture of all of this stuff together because people didn't seem to believe there were real guitars in my songs for some odd reason.

Also, I have a Shure SM58 for vocals and such.

And while this last thing isn't really involved in my recording in any way, I have a Behringer UCA222 external sound card so I can stream myself live while I'm working on music or just playing stuff. I do this pretty often with people I talk to fairly regularly on skype. Most often I'll be practicing piano and a few people will listen in.

Wait...you're female?
(not that I'm 100% surprised, since somehow I figured that out(???) [mysteriously, and not by stalking your page in mid-2012???])

And yet there are still people questioning my gender. I find this highly amusing.

z0mg UR A GIRL?!?!!??!?!

lol j/k <3

I am loving the new avatar

I know, right?

Its a little scary though......

You say scary, I say sexy.

i got curious cos i saw Gasai Yuno <3 the yandere goddess of deep love

Gasai Yuno <3

oh nice, I have a Digitech Jamman (the older model that only supports mono audio -_-) myself, its very useful for practicing.

why dont you record directly into FL? I use a Focusrite Scarlett interface, I'm surprised how there's virtually no latency and the quality doesn't seem to be diminished. I can always edit the waveforms in an AE if needed afterwards.

I really don't like the recording in FL Studio, it's clunky and just all around a pain in the ass to use IMO. Reaper is so much easier. So I'll generally record in Reaper, then import the wav to FL Studio, or I'll do the midi in FL Studio, then import it to Reaper.

Basically, recording sucks in FL Studio, midi sucks in Reaper. So I just find it easier to use both for what they're good for.

Ho. I'm so sad. I can't understand the whole interview.
But still.. That's ok 'cause I understand most of it.
Anyway, it's cool ! Keep going !

One day young padawan, your english shall be flawless.

your awesome all the same to me :D

Yey! Someone thinks I'm awesome!

So it turns out purgy was male all along... Disappoint :c

I soz... I'll try be less manly from now on... T^T

Background music name please!

Ohhh i see...
Hm another question, i fell kinda dumb asking this but, are you male or female? Im sorry for asking this but, as a Brazilian i dont fully understand North-American accents. D:

Check the youtube comments. No accents in text. There was a little argument about it there.

I love YT comments :D
So amusing :3

Indeed... and I got both top comments, go me.
