Clarification

Posted by Back-From-Purgatory - May 27th, 2011

In light of a few reviews I've been getting lately, I would like to clarify something people seem to be misunderstanding.

The guitars in my songs... Are real guitars, not VSTs or any kind of software instruments. I'm not sure why people seem to think they're not real... but just to drive the fact home, I'm going to include a picture of all my guitar gear. The only song I have ever done where a guitar wasn't real was my 28 days later cover, because I was too lazy to hook everything up after I got home from a jam...

Every other song on my page that has guitar in it, is done with real guitars. Also note, I am not including everything I use, just the gear I use frequently. And it may be hard to tell in the picture, but the Ibanez has a glitter blue finish, depending on how well the pic uploads, it may look black due to lack of light.

Guitars (From left to right): Ovation Celebrity (Electric acoustic, 6 string), Peavy Raptor (Electric, 6 string), Ibanez RG1527 Prestige (Electric, 7 string), Fender Precision Bass (Electric, 4 string)

Amp: Fender Frontman 25R

Pedals (Left to right): Digitech JamMan Stereo Loopstation, Line 6 POD X3 Live

Keyboards (Left to right): Alesis Micron synth, M-Audio Keystation 88es (88 key, half of the keyboard is cut out of the pic)

Nice, I have the same amp and Digitech Loop Pedal. 'cept mine isn't stereo :'(

Do you use the Frontman USB and the included software to record? I haven't had much luck with it.

I don't use my amp at all when I record, I only really use it to practice. I record via USB from my Line 6 POD X3 Live and have my guitar routed through my PC speakers (BOSE) instead of my amp, makes recording easier when everything is playing back from the same source IMO.

that a nice set of guitar first time i see that electric acoustic green guitar look pretty must have good quality too :

They Keyboard seem a bit basic but i guess with some SFX software or something they make ur song awesome

i can see that ur ibanez have a dark blue finish and not black after increased gamma by +30% and max saturation to the pic look blurry if i do that but i see it :)

KEEP GOING :) I'm looking forward for new songs :P

Yeah, the ovation is top notch quality, although I don't use it as much as I should... probably because I don't have too many songs that include acoustic parts.

As for the keyboard, the Alesis is deceptively complicated, it only has a few knobs/sliders on it, but the stuff you can do with that little thing is ridiculously complex. As for the other keyboard, I bought it because it was simple, I just wanted an 88 key midi keyboard, not a work station type keyboard with thousands of knobs/sliders on it, and it serves its purpose well.

And yeah, the Ibanez is a lot lighter in color in person, but because of the placement of it in the picture not much light was coming off of it... It's a very sexy looking guitar in person.

As for new songs... they're on the way, I look forward to hearing your take on them!

I will try to describe the epicness of ur new song !

Argh! And to think I was jealous of my friend's electric guitar hooked up to a jazz amp. I feel so sad.

Awww... don't be sad!

Looks like Newgrounds trolls just got owned.

Only took a basic guitar class a few years ago and don't know anything about playing the guitar but guitar seems like a pretty great instrument for people to play.

Don't think anyone was trolling, it's just that there are so few musicians on the site that actually play any form of live instrument, so a lot of people just seem to assume everything is done with some form of VST or samples.

As for guitar, it's a very accessible instrument, you can get guitars really cheap to start out, and you can play just about anything on them and have it sound good, and once you're good enough, you can play 2 parts at the same time, much like a pianist plays a melody and bass line, a nimble guitarist can do the same thing, be it finger picking or just crazy pick skills.

That and everyone knows that guitarists get all the girls. Therefore it is the instrument of choice for most starting musicians.
