Purgy is back!

Posted by Back-From-Purgatory - November 16th, 2012

Got my PC back, and everything is running good! I haven't got all my backed up stuff back on here yet, but I'll be doing that over the next few days.

So, now I'm in debt from the new parts in this thing... plus side is, I replaced all my ancient parts, so my PC should be running a lot better now.

As an extra note.... Windows 8 is fucking weird as hell.

More weird than Windows normal is/has been?

A million times more weird... yes. The "Start Screen" looks like the home screen of an iPad or something.

Would this mean that you are actually "back from purgatory", now?
And welcome back!

Sort of, and thanks!

Good, now start testing my Osu! beatmaps (I'm Amiga777, if you've forgotten).

You've made some already? Man, you're speedy... I'll give them a try after I get all my stuff back on my PC.

Windows 8 is balls lol, fuck that OS.

I admit the novelty wears off real fast and it's becoming increasingly evident how gimmicky and non-functional it is the more I mess with it.

I think the old Windows start menu was shit in comparison to the metro start menu, honestly. For one, I don't really think there's any point in being able to see the desktop when you open it.. So why not make it fullscreen? And they added more stuff to it that makes it more useful. I go to the start menu a lot more often now to check my emails or my facebook account. It's also cool to be able to quickly and easily check the weather. And I have an app that tells me when there's new episodes of TV shows that I watch.

Most of the stuff that I like is fairly useless, sure.. but I still think they're nice additions.

I dunno, personally, I find it overly gimmicky, flashy, and more or less pointless... But a friend of mine said it took them over a month to get used to it... so maybe I'll warm up to it down the road a bit.

We'll see I guess... I'm very open minded, but my first impression is honestly not good.

Microsoft 101 <(-o-o-)>:

NEVER purchase the first service pack of a new Windows operating system!! Always wait at least for the 2nd or 3rd service pack. When you wait, many of the biggest problems and/or confusion is usually resolved when these releases are made.

I know it's too late, but I definitely would have downloaded Microsoft's Windows 8 test drive system before making the new OS a complete investment. If you can hold out for a year with what you have, my hat's off to you, girl!

I don't upgrade my OS very often... mostly because they are (were) very expensive... Windows 8 was cheap... and Vista will start to fade out of existence soon, I'm sure... so I figured I may as well just go with the latest and put up with a "beta state" OS for a while as everyone adapts and begins to support it.

I've already found that both my mouse and keyboard drivers are not supported on Windows 8... fortunately, the drivers don't do much but add extra bells and whistles, which I never really used anyways.

I'm sure I'll get used to it sooner or later, whether I'll enjoy it when I do or not is another story.

Windows XP FTW.

I had XP for a long, long time... only really "upgraded" to vista because support was being dropped for XP.

yay

Yay!

=D
YAY

I have an announcement coming soon about it, don't worry.

I CAN'T wait for a windows 2012 "apocalypse edition" ! Wich totaly crash whatever you do, and even when you do nothing ! =D

Yes.

I just realized you probably had a ton of music on your old computer, that's gotta be a bitch to transfer over.
When I upgraded, it took me like 3 days to redownload all my games. And that was at ~10Mb/s constantly.

Not quite as much as you'd think honestly, I've got maybe ~5000 songs. I don't collect and hoard music nearly as much as I used to. And I've already transferred it all over, it actually took longer for me to transfer over my Reaper project files and such... as I have thousands of .wav files, for both projects you all know... and a bunch no one has ever heard.

As far as games go... I have pretty much everything I play often already on here.

lrn2economy noob

wut

I used windows 8 and I didnt like it at all. Found anything good about it?

Well... It... Uhhh...

Hmmm...

Let me get back to you on that.

came by to ask when -Awakening- is going to release :P

also: I tried and disliked the Win 8 beta, and so far everyone i've talked to has hated at least a portion of it. For desktops, it's a piece of crap. Tablets, not so much; though I still prefer the Android OS to Win 8.

I actually finished it earlier today, I should be making a new newspost in the near future that will make a lot of people happy.

But for now... to answer your question...

Soon (TM).

Technology is evolving too fast.
It would be freaking sweet to own a pair of hover-boots though.

I agree... on both counts.

It's nice that you are back. ^^
