New Years, New Resolutions You Don't Keep

Posted by Back-From-Purgatory - January 1st, 2013

My New Years resolution:
Stop sucking at music so I can go somewhere in life.

Also:
--Chapter I of my album "To The End Of The World" is out, if you haven't already, go buy it so I can feel warm and fuzzy inside.

--Sign up for my Official Forum and keep in touch for some exclusive news, contests, and other misc. junk.

--Check out my Youtube channels and subscribe so that I have more reason to continue posting videos:

(Gaming) Purgatory Gaming

--Check out and follow my Soundcloud profile.

--Lastly... go check out the shitty song I posted.

Yep... I don't really have anything to talk about, so instead I'm whoring out all my stuff, soz.

I think whoring out your stuff is the main purpose of newsposts. Also you don't suck at music

I suppose, and agree to disagree? There is so much in music I want to do, that I still can't. =(

Having room for improvement doesn't mean you suck

... You win this round.

AYM SEXY :d NICE ok ay whil buy your muzic and if it suks aym ghona throw stones at you agree ?

Sure.

Heh, maybe you should try doing songs, even bad songs, so we can tell you if you're doing it right or not.. I mean, we listen to your music, so we are a lil' part of why your music is. When someone tell you your song is awesome, it is because this person wanna encourage you, I'm not sure we'd keep listening to your stuffs if you were sucking at it. Not sure I'll get understood.

I guess.

Just sharing the material you love to make/do doesn't always meaning you're whoring yourself out to other people. Of course, you don't suck very often.

Well, that's reassuring... I think.

You don't really suck at music, though. Listened to your EP entirely, and it's very well put together and catchy. I'm not even a big metal fan either.

Would help to turn up the drums just a tiny bit, or maybe I just don't have the right headphones to listen to it. Either way, once I come across some extra money I'll buy it.

Nah, that seems to be a common complaint with my metal, is that the drums don't have enough punch, which I am trying to correct bit by bit.

And that'd be awesome. <3

You can try collabing with others musicians and get feedback from good musicians. Who knows you could collab with a hip/hop beat maker and make a really good rock/hiphop mix for all we know.

I've had quite a few requests in terms of collabs... Sooner or later.

What's the new profile picture from? It's really nice

Dream Eater Merry, decent anime, nothing amazing... but decent.

At the very least, it's got a good art style.

Unfortunately, the anime isn't nearly as cool as my profile pic... I wish it was.

I really want to keep mine. Why do we make resolutions if we dont keep them?

To blame society for not allowing us to keep them?

While I'll admit it's catchy... that's so far from my own style that it'd be kind of difficult to take notes from it.

well It does sound like your still in the experimenting stage so theres always room for trying out different styles and mixing two different genre's.

I've been experimenting with new things for years, I've also mixed numerous genres together already... just not that kind.

I've done metal, classical, trance, DnB, Dubstep (debatable), piano solos, rock, punk, Jpop/rock (Whichever you wanna count K-ON as), ambient, hardcore, etc. etc. etc...

I've tried a lot of stuff, and I do a lot of different styles on a regular basis... If I like something, I try to make it essentially.

I've got this one hentai video saved on my PSP, and it's pretty average I guess, but I can't bring myself to delete it because the art and the animation is just so god damn pretty, I imagine someone worked on it for like years. There's no recycled animation or anything, even in the repetitive parts. I wish I knew what it was called.

How very random.

You can't suck in music if you have 400+ fans.

Then again, you gained 400 fans in a span of 8 years. Most fans could be inactive now.

My album sales imply as much.

"There is so much in music I want to do, that I still can't. =("

I'm pretty sure everyone who doesn't have their head in their ass feels that way, but the difference between those who are good and those who are a bad is the former group sees it as an exciting opportunity to get better, and explore and they pursue what they want to do, while the latter group laments about not being good enough, and contemplates how good they could be and wishes to be playing at a certain level moreso than actual putting in the necessary practice.

"My album sales imply as much."

unless if you're exceptionally good (or for the most part, popular)- if you think you're going to sell albums in 2013 then you're going to have a bad time. Look into playing live shows and maybe even sell merchandise, and then your albums sales may go up.

"Stop sucking at music so I can go somewhere in life."

you've given yourself an unfair ultimatum. You can also go to school, get practical skills, and try to find employment like everyone else, and thusly go somewhere in life.

1: I do practice... often.

2: Unless you're extremely talented, no one wants to watch a solo musician play a single instrument to a backing track on stage. And I've tried for YEARS to find other dedicated musicians to band up with... with no success.

3: I'm already employed, and I'm not wasting money on school for something I don't love doing just to make money... I will not cop out like the rest of the working drones on the planet.

Also... afterthought:
I do have plans to make money while doing something I enjoy... however, these plans require much preparation and a great deal of time and dedication before they come to fruition.
Also safer than music (Although it still involves music).

How many times did your album get sold anyway?

Very few.

On the plus side, this means every sale I do get feels extra special.

Maybe. Hey what is ur forum about?

Anything and everything, is basically a precursor to my official site and independent (Read: Under my own domain) forum down the line.

Yeah what domain you gonna use?

Currently undecided.
