Purgy Has Vocaloid!

Posted by Back-From-Purgatory - July 15th, 2013

Some of you may have noticed the new theme on my profile, and those that have that are also familiar with Vocaloid will have probably pegged it down as Gumi.
And you'd be right. That is indeed Gumi, and the change followed soon after I bought Vocaloid3 with a copy of the english version of Gumi.

Over the last couple weeks or so, I've been working on a new song to stretch my vocaloid muscles, and I figured no better way to do that than start with a style of music that people seem to enjoy a lot from me... Something I've been calling "Piano Rock".

Put some finishing touches on it earlier today, and here it is. Give it a listen, comment, review, vote, etc. etc...

Hope you guys enjoy it, even if it's a little rough around the edges, being my first time using Vocaloid and all:

And here I thought it was just some random weirdo anime chick with a gas-mask fetish, lol

Nope.

How does Vocaloid work anyway?

You input notes, type words into those notes, then tweak the bajillion settings available (Velocity, Dynamics, Breathiness, Brightness, Clearness, Opening, Gender Factor, Portamento Timing, Pitch Bend, and Pitch Bend Sensitivity).

Tweak all of those to your liking to suit the song and add a more human feel (I'm still working on this... but I did do some pitch editing in this song to add a few little imperfections to make her sound a bit more real). Hit play, vocaloid sings what you put down... Perhaps in my next newspost, I'll post a screenshot of the project for this song... Give you a better idea of how it works.

Did you buy your copy of Vocaloid, or are you using a free version (or using an off brand)?

I bought both the full version of Vocaloid3 as well as Gumi's English voice bank.

Cost around $220.

Vocaloid is so awesome! But I wonder how the Japanese peeps made music so unique.

By being awesome, of course.

That's rather step price-wise, but I'm glad you persevered and made good use of it all!

Actually, Vocaloid is one of the cheaper investments I've made in regards to my music.

You did good work with this! Hope you can put it to a lot of good use.

I will certainly try.

Where did you bought a vocaloid? ._.

From the official (English) Vocaloid store:

Huh. And here I thought Vocaloid was like some sort of a vocal-pitching/vocal-fuckery (using your own voice) sorta software.

Nope, everything is pre-recorded, you just tell it what to say and tweak all the parameters.

It's kind of like hiring a singer, except that they have no brain of their own, and you have to tell them EXACTLY what you want them to do, down to the finest details.

Dude... That was awesome.... YOU ARE AWESOME! I'mma have to private message you about stuff now! Soo much stuff to talk to you about! So glad to find a fellow vocaloid fan which makes music too XD

So much excitement!

=O

I HAZ DA VOCALOID TOO! :3

I'm still not content with the results.... and I suck at writing lyrics. xD

Except of course, Pomf Pomf. :P

Pomf pomf kimochi, what's this sticky stuff on me.... ?

<3

Not bad. I didn't know you could just buy an vocaloid like that.

Welp, you can, that's how they make money.

..hmm..
I thought her voice would sound differently from first look
nice song
(^.w.)^

She does sound a tiny bit different with her Japanese voicebank... mainly because the singer is a native Japanese speaker. She learned english just for this voice bank, which is why you can hear a notable Japanese accent in her singing.

And thanks.

I listened to your song, it's very nice :D
Can't wait to hear more vocaloid songs coming from you! Keep it up!

Also, what do you think about Kaito's English voice bank, I'm think of http://back-from-purgatory.newgrounds.com/news /post/855515?comment_form=0buying him next cause I really need an english voice bank haha

Glad you liked it.

what the...
I'm thinking of buying him next*

Damn those random paste comments!

Vocaloid without extra vocal packs is just like a Yamaha keyboard without plug... oh wait.

Sure.
